AI Memory plugin for Grok Build
Solution for long term memory for agent coding CLIs and to facilitate handoff between different agent vendors
How to install AI Memory in Grok Build
1. Add this repo as a plugin marketplace in Grok Build (once per computer):
grok plugin marketplace add akitaonrails/ai-memory2. Install the plugin:
grok plugin install ai-memory@akitaonrails/ai-memory --trustReview before you trust it. --trust lets this plugin's hooks, MCP servers and scripts run code on your computer. It's a community repo that neither xAI nor GrokStacks has reviewed, so read its code first.
Then start a new Grok session, or press r in /plugins, to load it.
Inside Grok Build: type /plugins, open the Marketplace tab, press a and add akitaonrails/ai-memory, then select ai-memory and press i.
Command format: Grok Build's plugin guide
Skills work, MCP part needs manual setup. Grok loads AI Memory's skills and commands, but not its MCP server: it needs settings that Claude Code asks for when you install it (userConfig), and Grok doesn't ask for them. Add the server yourself with grok mcp add (see grok mcp add --help), using the server address and settings from the plugin's README.
What we checked: on Oct 19, 2026 it installed with grok 1.0.62 and Grok found 7 skills. That's an install check only: we haven't run it in a live Grok session.
What it contains
Skills (7)

Trigger by semantic intent rather than exact wording;ai-memory-handoff— Use this skill for any request whose goal is session continuity across agents or time: finding a pending handoff, resuming previous work, saving next-session context, wrapping up, or discarding a mistaken handoff. Trigger by semantic intentai-memory-learning-maintenance— Use this skill for any ai-memory knowledge-base maintenance request: consolidating observations, reviewing session lessons, proposing durable learnings, auditing or linting the wiki, finding contradictions, pruning stale memory, or runningai-memory-messaging— Use this skill for cross-project agent-to-agent messaging: sending a request to another project's inbox, checking or popping this project's inbox, or retracting a message you sent. Trigger by semantic intent (delegate to another repo, checkai-memory-retrieval— Use this skill for any request whose goal is read-only retrieval from ai-memory: project history, prior context, decisions, rules, gotchas, recent activity, full wiki pages, or status/briefing. Trigger by semantic intent rather than exact wai-memory-routing-install— Use this skill for any request to install, refresh, repair, inspect, or remove ai-memory's agent-facing routing: managed instruction snippets, Agent Skills, CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md integration, or local/global skill roots. Trigger by semantic istatus— Check whether ai-memory is capturing this session and its memory tools can reach the server. Run it when memory looks missing or after installing or upgrading ai-memory.
